Hi, we’re Sam & Louise! We’re husband and wife wedding photographers in Essex. We have been photographing weddings together since 2011 and are now widely renowned as being one of the leading photography teams in the UK. In recent years we’ve even been named as one of the top 5 wedding photographers in the country. That’s not bad is it!?
Our approach to wedding photography is simple; we want you to have the time of your lives. We want you to laugh until your sides ache and embrace the people you love more than anything else in the world. Weddings are all about celebrating the fact that your happily ever after is only just beginning. The thought of whisking you away from the fun and frivolities makes our souls ache. Get involved! Enjoy every precious minute. No one looks back on their wedding day and wishes they’d spent more time looking blankly into a camera. So dance like no one is watching. Throw that wedding dress around and give it a story all of it’s own. Rigid, structured perfection isn’t what weddings (or marriage!) are about-Making memories beats faking them every single time.
If we had to describe our style, we are without a doubt photojournalists. We spend the majority of our time capturing all the off the cuff stuff that you didn’t even realise you’d miss. Belly laughs, dance offs and cheeky bum squeezes. At the core of what we do is the desire to capture the not-so-obvious bits. The unseen. The seemingly insignificant. Weddings may be planned around cake cuts and first kisses, but the it’s the moments in between the main events that often speak loudest. We endeavour to give those moments a voice and bring them to life. We strive to capture and tell the story of your day authentically and creatively- allowing you to relive every tear and triumph.
So what does that mean for you? Well, having a documentary style wedding photographer means you’re pretty much off the hook! No awkward posing or forced formality throughout the day. It means that you’re free to enjoy yourselves with minimal interruption. Our style best suits couples who want a photographer who will compliment their day, not take it over.
Our style best suits couples who are looking to bypass the formality that traditional wedding photography offers. That’s just not us. The couples we work with tend to be free thinkers who value photography and the story telling element within our work. If that sounds like you, you can read a bit more about why you might consider us to your right.
As well as being recommended wedding photographers in Essex at several of the best wedding venues in Essex, we have also worked at the following venues on several occasions.
As well as the above we are experienced shooters at the following wedding venues outside of Essex

The truth is that these days, almost anyone can take a decent looking photo or two. Money can buy a fancy camera, but money can’t buy experience. It can’t buy creativity, initiative or skill. If you want something more than a couple of decent photos for the hallway you’ll need experienced story tellers who can anticipate moments building, who know weddings inside out. If you want great photos, photos that tell a story, that capture a moment in time you’ll need someone who’s completely invested in your day. You’ll need someone who wont just sit on the sidelines waiting for things to happen as by then it’s already too late. You need someone who takes initiative and seeks out opportunities. That’s key. That’s us.
The great thing about having an experienced wedding photography team on your side is that no matter where the action is happening, one of us will be there to capture it. Whether you’re planning a big barn wedding, an intimate elopement or your very own tipi music festival we’ve got you covered.
If the prospect of being able to enjoy your day with minimal cringe factor sounds like what you’re looking for, we’d love to hear from you and chat about your plans. Wedding photographers Essex based Sam & Louise photography are available for wedding commissions all over the UK
Why you should consider having two Essex wedding photographers
There are lots of reasons why you may consider booking an experienced wedding photography team to photograph your wedding, Many of which you may not have even considered before. Sometimes people think their wedding is too small to warrant having two photographers and sometimes people are just unsure of the benefits. We have shot weddings with 7 guests and weddings with more than 200. It’s not all about the numbers, let me assure you.
When we mention that there are two of us, most people immediately think of the morning preparations. How wonderful that we can cover both the bride and the groom, or both partners getting ready before the ceremony. This is true of course, we can literally be in two places at once- but the advantages do not end there!
In fact, one of the most common reasons that our couples choose us is for dual coverage of their wedding ceremony. For couples planning to have a traditional bridal entrance, they would often like two angles captured. One of the bride walking down the aisle and one of the grooms reaction when he sees her for the first time. This requires having a photographer at the front and the back of the ceremony room.
Throughout the rest of the day, it is also handy having another pair of eyes. During the drinks reception for example one photographer can be covering natural reportage photographs of the guests whilst the other photographs key details such as the wedding cake and room set up. It also means things like group photos are more efficient as one shoots whilst the other rounds up the next group. During couples photos we can also tag team. Capturing different angles, acting as an assistant, chatting to and distracting the couple to create a more relaxed atmosphere.
Having two photographers is about so much more than just the wedding preparations on the morning of the wedding. If you’d like to read more about what we can offer as a wedding photography team, we have covered this subject on our blog.
