Houchins wedding venue has quickly become one of our favourite places in Essex to photograph a wedding.
We last worked there earlier this year for the wedding of James & Charlotte. We absolutely loved it! As such we were really excited about returning in September for Lindsay & James’ wedding celebrations.
For the first time we got to shoot an outdoor ceremony at Houchins. I must say, it takes some beating! The outdoor ceremony area feels intimate but still very outdoorsy and rustic. This is a balance that i’m sure appeals to lots of couples. It’s light and airy and there’s so much you can do with it. We loved the thought and attention to detail that had gone into making Lindsay and James’ wedding truly their own. Along with chalkboard signs, chairs had been decorated with ribbons- as had the arch which framed Lindsay’s walk down the aisle.
In addition the reception included a real family tree! A tree adorned with beautiful historic family photographs showing weddings gone by. There were lots of games for the children (and adults!) and even a quiz during dinner!
Although we’d not met L&J before the big day, we clicked with them immediately. They’re both such fun, expressive people. We chatted to them about music and their plans and how it had all come together. It made shooting their day feel like we were working with friends and that’s always something that shines through in the photos I think. Right from the beginnings of prep to when we waved goodbye following a sparkler “send off” we were welcomed by guests. We were included and considered which was so, so lovely. Thank you all so much for making our day at Houchins such a joy.
We were also lucky enough to work alongside some great suppliers, some of whom are mentioned at the end of this post. We also hope to return to Houchins again soon.
There’s a very small summary of Lindsay & James’ day below- we hope you love their photos as much as we do! Please feel free to leave your comments at the end of the post, or of course over on our Facebook page.
We do our best to give credit where it’s due. We kindly ask that you do the same when it comes to sharing images. As such we request that you do not screenshot photos but instead share the post. If you were a supplier involved on the day and your work is featured but not credited, please pop us an email [email protected]
